The scaly protagonists of I Am Fish can't be living without their pals, so they straighten their fins and set out to reunite in the glistening surf. That is, until they're forcibly separated and flung across the far reaches of Barnardshire, a fictional county that captures the West Country ideal so perfectly that I'm gutted it doesn't actually exist.īut that's besides the point. They're best buds and live blissfully in a bowl together. It's a tale of four fishy friends: goldfish, puffer fish, piranha, and flying fish. In fact, it may have elicited more emotion from me in a single sitting than any romance anime I've watched, which is really saying something. This isn't to say that I Am Fish lacks emotional depth. In a west country accent, he bellows, "Swim, you fool!" He is peering into your googly, goldfish eyes. Now imagine Ian Mckellen with the same gravitas as he had playing Gandalf in Lord Of The Rings, except with a farmer's cap on. This isn't a grim tale wrapped in layers of metaphor, or a walking simulator that guides you slowly through a field of feelings. Like a splash of cold water to the face, I Am Fish is a wonderfully refreshing physics platformer. Oh, and yeah, PC players can enjoy it as well.A fun physics platformer with clever levels, a bit of puzzling, and a terrifying man wearing a farmer's cap. It’s available through Game Pass too and that means there’s little reason to not get involved. If you wish to pick up a copy of the game for yourself, just head on over to the Xbox Store and pick up a copy on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Even if you are a dab-handed player, you might find yourself in deep waters – we dare you to dive in! BE CAREFUL YOU DON’T FLOUNDER – Whilst I Am Fish may look like a piece of hake to play, actshoally the controls are deliberately designed to be challenging and with an additional layer of added Bossa Style controls, it won’t be like shooting fish in a barrel. ![]() Cheers! Navigating in each make-shift aquatic vehicle poses its own unique challenge, but don’t worry, the relative freedom of open water is never too far away with inviting fountains, swimming pools and err, sewers full of hazardous materials to splash around in, before reaching the final goal – the shimmering, open ocean.
